Summer has always been my favorite season, especially since my birthday falls in early August. With summertime officially here as of June 21, we can finally enjoy warmer weather, abundant flowers, and best of all, plenty of sunshine. It’s quite simply the most magical time of the year. If you also celebrate your birthday from mid-June through mid-September — under the summer zodiac signs of Cancer, Leo and Virgo — you might agree!
As a fiery and expressive Leo who has adored all things zodiac ever since I was a little girl, I love giving and receiving presents that are selected with deep thought, care and love. One innovative way to do that is to tap into an individual’s astrological profile, where you’ll discover quirks, likes, dislikes, and tendencies to help you pick the perfect present.
Take it from this Lioness who loves it when anyone gets presents, these gifts inspired by the qualities of the summertime zodiac signs will help their special day shine, summer-style.
Sentimental and emotional are often the first words that pop up when describing a Cancer. Ruled by the Moon, these water signs love coziness and security and are especially nurturing to those around them. The Crab prefers calm and docile surroundings, the mystical, and creature comforts. Cancers especially love gifts that tug at the heartstrings and replenish soul and spirit.
Brilliant, iridescent moonstone embodies the Cancer’s ethereal spirit. This gem is shaped to resemble a single drop of water in a silver setting, evoking the curve of ocean waves; no doubt the wearer will feel an air of peace and tranquility. This exquisite ring will also serve as a reminder to seek out both beauty and mystery through life’s constant ebbs and flows.
Cancers adore caring for their nearest and dearest, so what better way to show that than preparing a meal? From crafting scrumptious sushi and pizza to step-by-step instructions to build a wondrous gingerbread house with their kids, Cozymeal offers myriad culinary and mixology classes and other events, both online and in-person, to get any Cancer’s kitchen creativity flowing.
Cancer’s supportive, caretaking nature means their own needs can shift to the back burner. Author and astrologer Constance Stellas’s collection of cosmically-curated self-care tips will help your favorite Crab replenish mind and body, and show your appreciation for everything they do for others. Now that’s a gift that will keep giving back, long beyond their birthday.
The performer of the summer zodiac signs, Leos are always ready to take their place center stage. Ruled by the Sun, these fire signs are bold, outrageous, and overflowing with confidence. Loving anything flashy, brightly-colored, and extravagant, lions still express that wide-eyed, childlike excitement over the perfect gift. Their regal air means that gifts with a touch of luxury will always get a satisfied smile and an approving nod from a Leo.
Leos love to pamper themselves with cosmetics and perfumes. The line of reiki-infused oils by Tucson-based Kate’s Magik have gorgeous aromas, and the offerings presented as part of the Bastet Perfume Society are just as sumptuous. Your Leo will receive a monthly sample from this collection of premium perfume, named for the Egyptian feline goddess that treasures sweets and scents. If they love it, they have the option to purchase a full-sized bottle at a discounted rate.
Adorning themselves with jewelry is another Leo custom, especially if it’s a statement piece that expresses their star quality. Any Leo would be pleased to display their sign’s strength and tenacity with the omega-esque glyph, the glittering constellation, or the fiery lion shown here. While gold is usually the favored Leo metal, this 14-karat vermeil necklace or its sterling silver counterpart will be worn with pride.
If a splurge on a bauble for your favorite Lioness is in order (ahem, see above) they’ll want something just as elaborate and ornate to display that jewelry. The peacock is another creature associated with Leo, and do they like to attract attention! Just as the majestic bird unfurls its stunning, colorful plumage, this intricate jewelry box is sure to turn heads.
If any of the zodiac signs could be defined as the peak of wisdom and pragmatism, it would be Virgo. Steadfast and grounded, these Earth signs are sticklers for order, structure, and everything in its place. One of two signs led by Mercury, along with Gemini, Virgos are also excellent communicators, freely sharing their thoughts with tact, knowledge, and precision. Since clutter and chaos is a no-go for most Virgins, a gift that’s both practical and beautiful will fit nicely into their world.
As the last sign of the summer season, Virgo gets to savor the final balmy breezes of summer, and welcome the crispness and warmth of the coming autumn. This candle features notes of oud, amber, patchouli, musk, clove, and citron in a soy wax base, a juxtaposition of dynamic citrus and spice, transitioning to a fragrant stroll in the wooded countryside.
Many Virgos appreciate simplicity and grace in their personal style, and their symbol of the Virgin — an older term for “maiden” — beautifully depicts their solid, salt of the Earth qualities. Made in Indonesia and created by Javanese artisan Selly Segita, this delicate sterling silver pendant is understated, yet determined and powerful.
Virgos like to keep their living spaces tidy, without unnecessary items that will take up space. Fashioned from slices of natural agate — a silica mineral fashioned within volcanic rocks — these coasters directly connect your favorite Virgo to the element that rules their sign, filling their homes with the steady energy they love. Functional and decorative, the breathtaking natural look of these coasters will be a conversation starter on the coffee table.
We hope this helps you narrow down your gift-giving choices for the Cancer, Leo, and Virgo GALs in your life. And if one of those is your astrological sign, what gifts do you love to receive?
